Brief Shapes
About the collection

Old stories.
New shapes.

Brief Shapes makes musical films about fleeting moments. Sometimes our characters are gods. Sometimes they are the people, spirits and monsters standing just outside a god’s spotlight.

We are interested in the human scale of these stories: the pleasure of an afternoon, the courage to refuse an order, the experience of being heard. Humour, tenderness and strangeness can share the same scene.

This companion begins with our Greek collection. It brings the films together with original artwork and readable accounts of the ancient material behind them.

How we use sources

Greek mythology is not a single book with one official version. Poets, historians and local traditions sometimes disagree. We identify the source we are following and keep incompatible versions separate.

“The ancient stories” explains the surviving accounts. “Our interpretation” describes the choices we made for a particular film. An imagined encounter or alternative ending is labelled as such.

References point to ancient works in translation and clearly identified further reading. Our prose is an original retelling, not a reproduction of a modern translation.

How we make the films

Our work uses AI-assisted music and imagery alongside writing, creative direction, selection, editing and revision. The artwork on this site comes from our own film productions. Ancient settings are artistic interpretations, not archaeological reconstructions.

We keep the sources visible and the creative choices honest. The films are meant to be enjoyed; the companion invites a closer look.

A quiet place to explore

This is a lightweight static website. There are no accounts, advertising scripts or newsletter forms. Film players load only when you choose to play; doing so connects you to YouTube, whose privacy practices then apply. The hosting provider may process ordinary access logs.

We do not currently sell products here. Images are presented for viewing; publication on this site does not grant a reuse licence.
